Municipal League
Mayor Thurman was appointed to serve as a member of the Environment, Energy and National resources Committee. They held their first meeting in Albuquerque this past weekend. This was the first meeting to help the league’s legislative agenda for the coming year.
Town Hall meeting
The Community Development Block Grant planning meeting will be held at the Elida Senior Center at 6 p.m. Thursday. This program will be a student’s presentation and housing issues.
There will be an ice cream going away party for the Ike Good family in the town park at 7 p.m. Friday. Bring some ice cream or cake to share. There is a money tree at Dixon Oil.
Swimming is coming
The town will transport youths to take lessons at the Portales pool July 7 to July 18. Call the town hall to register by July 3. There is a charge of $25.00 and for pre-beginners it will be $10.00.
Around Town
Please keep Martha, the Gilmores, Nita, Mrs. McCraw, the Graves and our other friends that are ill on your prayer list as well as those in area nursing homes.
Elida received a rain and hail storm over the weekend. There was some roof damage and trees and scrubs were nearly stripped.
