LAWTON, Okla. — Laci Lee scored 22 to lead three in double figures, and the Eastern New Mexico University women’s team used a game-ending 16-2 run to defeat Cameron University 65-63 Thursday night in a Lone Star Conference crossover game at Aggie Gym.
The Zias (5-7) also got 16 from Jereena Bosket and 14 from Elizabeth Richards en route to snapping a three-game losing streak. Lee also pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds.
Cameron (6-6) led 32-25 at halftime and seemed to have the game in hand with 4:49 to go and a 61-49 advantage.
But Cameron missed all five of their field goal attempts and hit just 2-of-4 free throws for the rest of the game. The Zias drew to within one on a free throw from Heather Brown, then took a lead with 31 seconds to go on a fast-break layup by Bosket.
Brittany Cooksey missed a jumper with 12 seconds to go, and Lee hit a free throw with eight seconds remaining to end the scoring.
Cooksey and Kimberle Woods scored 17 each for Cameron.
Kristi McGuire returned to the Zia lineup after missing two games with an ankle injury, but played just 12 minutes and finished with two rebounds. Loren Scarlett added seven points for Eastern.
The Zias continue their mini road trip with a 1 p.m. Saturday game against Southwest Oklahoma.
