Frank Bayless, 64
Frank Bayless, 64, of Portales, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2004, at Roosevelt General Hospital.
He was born Sept. 2, 1939, in Cowan, Tenn., to Henry Porter and Lena Wiles Bayless.
He married Joann Gregory on May 4, 1962, in Nashville. He worked as police officer with the Nashville Metropolitan Police Department, where he retired.
Family members said he was a Mason in Nashville, and he enjoyed fishing. He came to Portales from California in April 2003, where he owned Frank’s Bail Bond in Portales.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Lisa (and husband Stephen) Farrar of High Point, N.C., and Linda (and Carl) Weatherly of Nashville; two brothers, W.O. Lucas of Mount Julius, Tenn., and Hank (and Dorothy) Bayless of Clovis; three sisters, Betty Ikard of Alto, Tenn., Mary (and Jimmy) Deverell of Covington, Tenn., and Evelyn Lucas of Bruston, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Allen, Brent, and Ricky Weatherly, and Kayle and Kelli Farrar; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at The Chapel, 1500 Thornton, in Clovis with Pastor Jonathan Brock officiating.
Burial will be at Mission Garden of Memories in Clovis.
Pallbearers will be Mickie Fenn, J.W. Meyer, Chuck Sweeting, Crystal McElroy, Christina Snell, and Kelly Harris.
Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis.
Services are at 10 a.m. today at The Chapel, 1500 Thornton in Clovis.

Bobby Ray Beeler, 62
Bobby Ray “BeBop” Beeler, 62, of Anadarko, Okla., died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003, in Oklahoma City.
He was born July 28, 1941, in Anadarko to John A. and Velora Truex Beeler.
He married Portales native Marcella A. Grimes on Jan. 20, 1967, and they made their home in Anadarko.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Tammy Thrash (and husband Mike) and Brandy Beeler, all of Anadarko; grandchildren, Tania Thrash, Glenna Stumblingbear, T.D. Thrash and Adriana Murillo; a special daughter, Rhygonna Hogan (Jerry) of Wichita Falls, Texas; a brother, Johnny Beeler, and many other nieces, nephews and in-laws.
Arrangements were under the direction of Stevorson Funeral Home in Anadarko.

Welcome Alberta Owens, 81
Welcome Alberta Owens, 81, of Rush Springs, Okla., died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004, in Rush Springs, Okla.
She was born on Oct. 29, 1922, in Wellington, Texas, to Dr. W.L. and Sallie Bean Gray.
She married Albert Monroe Owens in July of 1941 in Levelland, Texas. She was a member of the Methodist church in Bolivar, Mo. She attended high school in Wellington, Texas. She lived in Bolivar, Mo. from 1973 until 1995 and Clovis from 1957 until 1970 before moving to the Rush Springs area in 1995. She retired from Bernard-Brewer, in Lubbock as a bookkeeper, in 1990. She was a hospital volunteer. Family members said she enjoyed her work and enjoyed golf. She attended Vimy Ridge Baptist Church in Rush Springs, Okla. She was the last of 14 children.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and 13 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Monty Owens (and wife, Dixie) of Tyler, Texas; two grandchildren, Cody Owens of Albuquerque and Colt Owens of Portales; three great-grandchildren, Kayla Owens, Cheyanne Owens and Amber Owens; three step-grandchildren, Bryan Stilwell of Palestine, Texas, Don Stilwell of Waco, Texas and Debra Dowden of New London, Texas; and nine step-great-grandchilren.
Burial will be at 2 p.m. (CST) Wednesday at Wellington Texas Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel of Rush Springs, Okla.
Services are at 2 p.m. (CST) today at Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Marlow, Okla.
