A Garvey Processing employee who fell 47 feet from a ladder onto a catwalk at work on Monday is bedside in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, hospital officials said Wednesday.
Matt Jackson fell from the ladder and shattered his vertebrae and pelvis and could be permanently paralyzed, said Linda Stobb of Portales National Bank. Officials with PNB have set up a fund to help pay for Jackson’s medical expenses.
Stobb said Jackson was scheduled to undergo surgery on Wednesday.
The cause of the fall is undetermined, according to the incident report from the Portales Fire Department.
Officials with Garvey would not comment on the incident.
Stobb said those wanting to donate money to Jackson’s expenses can do so at any PNB teller.
Jackson’s family could not be reached for comment on Wednesday.
