Billie Selman, 70
Mrs. Billie Evelyn Marie Sanders Selman, 70, of Clovis, a housewife, mother and certified nursing assistant, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004, at her home.
She was born on March 29, 1934, in Clovis, to Robert Burdette and Dora Marie Bryson Higgins.
She married W.A. Sanders at a young age. She married Donald Ray “Joe” Selman on May 28, 1977. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She went to school and became a certified nursing assistant (CNA). Family members said she loved to dance and would say she’d “rather dance than eat.” She also loved fishing, crafts, crossword puzzles, reading tabloids and never gave up on trying to outplay her husband in pool. But most of all, she loved and adored her grandchildren and her dog, Baby, family members said.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; two sisters, Clara Mae Bledsoe and Johnnye Kinkade; a brother, Rowland Higgins; two sons, Johnny Ray and Glenn Wayne Sanders.
Survivors include her husband; a sister, Bobbie Higgins of Orlando, Fla.; three daughters, Jeannye Easter of Portales, Sandra Shaw of Philadelphia, Tenn., Mila Garcia (and husband, Joe) of Portales; a son, Clifford Sanders (Laurie) of Roswell; and a special person, Lisa Loucks.
Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Mission Garden of Memories in Clovis. The Rev. Steve Smith will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Mission Garden of Memories in Clovis.
Honorary pallbearers are Orvel Turner, Butch Southern, Jerry Nix, Jack Thomas, and Winston Talley.
Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.
