ELIDA — The Elida Lady Tigers opened District 3-1A play Thursday night with a 25-19, 25-15, 25-17 victory over Melrose.
Elida coach Darrell Chenault said the Lady Tigers fell behind in the first game, but took control behind strong serving. For the match, theh had just five errors on 61 serves.
“We served awesome,” said Chenault, whose team improved to 8-1 for the season. “It was just a pretty good team effort tonight.”
Elida also won the two preliminary matches against the Lady Buffaloes — 25-7, 25-20 in junior varsity play and 25-19, 7-25, 15-10 in the junior high matchup.
The match was the start of a busy weekend for the Lady Tigers. They travel to Capitan today for a two-day, eight-team tournament.
