Oct. 17 Elida School News

Adrienne Coe, a senior at Elida High School, has been named the 2004 Eastern New Mexico State Fair Queen in Roswell.  Coe, 18, was among four girls vying for the title.  Coe, who also had the Grand Champion dairy heifer at this year’s fair, has already begun carrying out the duties of fair queen.  She will be the fair’s ambassador, promoting rodeo and the western way of life around the 13 counties represented at the ENMSF.  It will be a daunting schedule, but Coe is enthusiastic about-facing the challenges that lie ahead.  Her prizes included a Circle Y saddle, a headstall, breast collar, buckle and crown.

Elida drama students got an up-close and personal look during location shooting of “Believe in Me,” a motion picture being filmed in Eastern New Mexico.  The students were behind the scenes on Oct. 13-14 while the cast and crew were shooting footage at the Driscoll house in the Town of Elida.  The field trip was a timely experience for members of the drama class since they are rehearsing for the moment when the curtain will soon open to a real audience for their performance in an upcoming school play.
