ENMU soccer teams lose on road

AUSTIN, Texas — Giovanni Barletta scored midway through the first half and St. Edward’s made it stand up for a 1-0 victory over Eastern New Mexico University’s men on Sunday in a Southwest Soccer Conference matchup.
The Cardinals (3-10-1, 3-7 LSC) avenged an earlier loss to the Greyhounds (5-9-1, 2-7) in Portales. St. Ed’s was coming off a 2-1 upset win in overtime on Friday against West Texas A&M.
Freshman forward Albert Robinson had three of ENMU’s four shots on goal in the match.
It was the final regular-season road outing for Eastern, which begins a five-game SSC homestand with a 2:30 p.m. contest on Friday against Northeastern State.

Zias — At San Angelo, Texas, Angelo State pulled away with three goals in a span of about 20 minutes in the second half on Sunday to beat Eastern New Mexico University’s women 4-1 in a Lone Star Conference soccer match.
Sophomore forward Megan Dozier notched her team-leading ninth goal of the season to pull the Zias (8-8, 1-4 LSC) into a tie about 7 1/2 minutes into the second half. ASU’s Rebecca Akingbolagun scored less than five minutes later, off assists from Elaine Connolly and Amanda Walzel, to put the Rambelles (8-6-1, 3-2-1) in front for good.
Angela Chavez and Shanna Brown each had a goal and an assist for Angelo State. ENMU had six shots on goal in the match, including four by Dozier.
