DORA — The Elida Lady Tigers wrapped up second place in District 3-1A volleyball Thursday night with a hard-fought 25-20, 25-21, 26-24 victory over the Elida Lady Coyotes.
Elida (14-5, 6-2 district) will play in the district semifinals on Thursday in a 7 p.m. matchup. Fifth-seeded Floyd plays at No. 4 Melrose on Monday, with that winner going to third-seeded Dora on Wednesday.
The finals are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at top-seeded Fort Sumner.
“I thought both teams played pretty good,” Elida coach Darrell Chenault said of Thursday’s match. “It was just back and forth; we each had runs.
“I thought we served really well. We had quite a few aces.”
In preliminary matches, Elida won the junior varsity clash 25-15, 25-9 while Dora took the junior high contest 25-8, 25-20.
