Geography bee
Congratulations to the geography bee first- and second-place winners, Bryce Harrison and Reshea Kelly.

Reading contest
FTCS recently had “The Pumpkin Patch Reading Contest.” Students were asked to read as many books as they could. After each book they read, they had to give a small oral report to their teacher telling about the book. The contest was for 3rd – 8th grades.
The winners were: First place, Kendra Emerson, 24 books; second place, Jessica McCain, 22 books; third place (tie), Micah Padilla and Johnathan Kelly, 21 books; fourth place, Brandi Smith, 20 books; fifth place, Reshea Kelly, 18 books; 6th place, Tsianina Gomez, 14 books; seventh place, Christy Beets, 13 books; eighth place (tie), J’Nae Wood, Levi Nicholson, and Carlie Alford, 9 books; ninth place, Tiffany Nicholson, 8 books; 10 books, Colton Phelps, 6 books.  Congratulations to everybody!
Fine arts
The second semester fine arts classes are busy at work. Students in Pre-K through eighth grade are currently preparing for a play to be held in February called “Pecos Bill, Slue Foot Sue, and the Wing Dang Doo.” It is going to be great. You don’t want to miss it. The high school film class has been preparing short films that they have written, filmed, and edited on their own. Their movies are being shown to the school during Chapel. 

Basketball games this week include Monday night at Elida, varsity boys at 6 p.m. and Tuesday night at Amarillo Flames, junior high girls at 4 p.m. and varsity boys at 5 p.m.

The Christmas party and gift exchange will be Friday at 9 a.m.  School dismisses at 10 a.m. for Christmas break. Teachers and staff return Jan. 3, grades 1-12 return Jan. 4 and Pre-K and Kindergarten return Jan. 6.
