Future Farmers of America
Our chapter competed in the New Mexico State Career Development Events in Las Cruces. Home site and wildlife placed fifth, FBM placed sixth, land and poultry placed 8th, pasture and range and crops placed 10th, and the agricultural mechanics team competed. Sam Newton tied for first high individual in wildlife. Four sponsors attended the event ± Darla Reed, Jeanie Terry, Zack Washburn, and Johnny Ogden, in addition to the advisor, Jim Daugherty.
Our chapter has also be busy servicing sprinklers for Colin Chandler as a fundraiser for the chapter. The Annual FFA banquet will be held on May 5 at 6:30 p.m. in the old gym. Anyone who would like to attend is invited.

Baseball: Monday, Floyd vs. Santa Rosa JV at Santa Rosa, 4:30 p.m.; Friday, Floyd vs. Texico at Floyd, 4 p.m.
Track: Tuesday, high school boys and girls at Texico, 3 p.m.; Saturday, high school boys and girls at Melrose for District 3-1A Meet, 9 a.m.
Elementary track: Students in grades 4-6 will be participating in a county-wide track meet on May 4 from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Elida and Dora will also be participating. Concession stand will be open.

Cheerleading tryouts
Cheerleading tryouts for junior high and varsity will be 6 p.m. Friday for girls in grades 6-11. The last clinic to learn the routines for tryouts will be Monday from 5:45 p.m.-7:30 p.m. See Sheri Chenault for more information and to pick up cheer packets.
