Nancy Simnacher, 59
Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Wheeler Mortuary Chapel in Portales.
Mrs. Nancy Simnacher, 59, of Portales, died Sunday, May 1, 2005, at Covenant Lakeside Hospital in Lubbock.
She was born on June 14, 1945, in Clovis, to Dollie and Herman Roberson.
She grew up in Farwell. She married Gene Newman in 1960. In the early 1970’s they settled in Portales. In 1982 she married Leon Simnacher. For the past several years she and Joe Gammill have been life partners. She was a member of the VFW Ladies’ Auxiliary. Family members said she was an accomplished pool player and she enjoyed exercising, walking, gardening, hunting, fishing, and traveling. She was a member of the Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, H.D. and Wallace Roberson; a sister, “Shorty” Wortham; a grandchild; and her husband.
Survivors include her life partner, Joe Gammill of Portales; a son, Ben Newman (and wife, Kathy) of Rio Rancho; seven daughters, Cindy Harper (Ted) of Clovis, Julie Coleman and Bobbie King (Lonnie), Rene Cathey (Brian), all of Portales, Sherri Humble (Kim) of Muskogee, Okla., Shana Allen (Dusty) of Midland, Texas, and Melanie Grubbs of Fort Smith, Ark.;a brother in law, Morris Lee Simnacher of Alburquerque; 17 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and a brother, Jimmy Roberson of Clovis.
James Terry will offiate the services.
Burial will be at Inez Cemetery between Dora and Causey.
Pallbearers are Waylon, Rustin, Michael, and Jared Riley, Winston and Brandon Newman, Steven and Nathan Cathey, Thomas and Joshua King, and Eric Coleman.
Honorary pallbearers are Burt and Cress Gammill, Lisa Gammill Jones, and Sandra Gammill-Julian.
