Vernon Bundrant, 85
Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in Portales.
Mr. Vernon L. Bundrant, 85, of Portales, died Tuesday, June 28, 2005, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.
He was born on Sept. 2, 1919, in Caddo, Okla., to Ena Lee and C.A. Bundrant.
He graduated from Ropesville High School in 1937. He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1942. He enlisted in the US Marine Corps. and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He married Evelyn Sutton on Aug. 22, 1943, in National City, Calif. In 1959 they moved to Portales. He began teaching in the elementary grades in Portales in 1971 at both Steiner Elementary and James School. He retired from teaching in the late 1980’s. Family members said he enjoyed collecting rocks and doing photography.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ollie and Jack Bundrant; two sisters, Johnnie Mae Stephens and Opal Bundrant; and by his wife.
Survivors include two sons, Teri Bundrant (and wife, Patti) of Abilene, Texas, and Brad Bundrant (Jo) of Floresville, Texas; five grandchildren, Craig Bundrant of Diboll, Texas, Bruce Bundrant of Milwaukee, Wis., Gilford Bundrant of Floresville, Texas, Marcus Bundrant of Salt Lake City, and Anna Manzo of El Paso, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Alex, Gio, Mary and Dustin; and two brothers, C.A. Bundrant of Wolfforth, Texas and Don Bundrant of Irving, Texas.
The Rev. Clyde Davis and the Rev. Ronnie Shackelford will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Portales Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Nancy and Randy Dunson, Bruce, Alan and Marcus Bundrant, Kazuyoshi Hayashi, Ed Miller, and Lowell Dean Stephens.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Portales.

Tommy Winters, 73
Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2005, at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Rogers.
Tommy Dale Winters, 73, of Longmont, Colo., formerly of Curry County, died Sunday, June 19, 2005, at her home.
She was born on Aug. 30, 1931, in Curry County, to Thomas Taylor and Helen Palmateer Mullins.
She graduated from Eastern New Mexico University with a bachelors of arts in home economics. She had a long career teaching in Longmont, Colo., at Columbine Elementary, Spangler Elementary and then Indian Peaks Elementary, retiring in 1996. She married Clois R. Winters on June 28, 1952, in Portales. She moved to Longmont, Colo., in June of 1968. She was a member of East Boulder Baptist Church in Boulder, Colo. She volunteered at Longmont Public Library.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a brother George Mullins; a sister, Beulah Trammell; and a nephew, Jim Mullins.
Survivors include two daughters, Rowanna Bobo (and husband, Keith) of Louisville, Colo., and Luanna Smith (Randy) of Longmont, Colo.; two sisters, Martha Mullins of Trophy Club, Texas, and Coralie Brown of Jal; and numerous relatives.
Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Rogers.
Cremation took place at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Longmont.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to East Boulder Baptist Church and sent in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry Street, Longmont, CO 80501.
