Low-cal microwave recipes featured on show

Information on low calorie recipes for the microwave and pattern alterations will be the featured topics on “Creative Living” on Tuesday at noon and on Saturday at 2 p.m. (All times are Mountain). “Creative Living” airs on public broadcasting station, KENW-TV, from Eastern New Mexico University in Portales.

Judy Murray is the manager of the Test Kitchen with Samsung Electronics America. Murray will show how to prepare several low calorie recipes in the microwave oven. Murray is from Ledgewood, N.J.

Margaret Islander is a sewing instructor and owns the Islander School of Fashion Arts. Islander will share some pattern alterations and fabric cutting secrets. She is from Grants Pass, Ore. 

Information on spicy recipes and landscape designs on garments and home décor items will be the featured topics on “Creative Living” Tuesday at 9:30 p.m. and Thursday at noon.

Roxanne Wyss is a home economist with Williams Foods, Inc. in Lenexa, Kans. Wyss will show some delicious recipes that are quite spicy. 

Patsy shields is a sewing expert who represents Sulky of America. Shields will demonstrate how to create beautiful landscape designs on garments or on home décor items. She is from Sellersburg, Ind.

“Creative Living” is produced and hosted by Sheryl Borden. The show is carried by more than 118 PBS stations in the United States, Canada, Guam and Puerto Rico and is distributed by Westlink of Albuquerque.

Broccoli-Cheese Soup
1 pkg. (2 1/2 oz.) Williams Country Gravy Mix
4 cups milk
2 cups (8 oz.) shredded Cheddar cheese
1 pkg. (10 oz.) frozen chopped broccoli, thawed and well drained
Mix together Williams Country Gravy Mix and milk in a two-quart saucepan.  Heat, stirring constantly, until smooth and hot. Stir in cheese and heat until melted. Stir in broccoli and heat over low heat 5 minutes. Makes 4 to 6 servings.
