Numerous criminal damage incidents were reported to Clovis police late Thursday night and early Friday morning.
Sgt. Jim Schoeffel, public information officer for the Clovis Police Department, said residents throughout the area had American flags stolen, mailboxes damaged and windows broken. Clovis police said they received between five and 10 formal reports and anticipate more.
Northeastern Clovis, specifically the neighborhoods on and around Norris Street, was hit hardest, Schoeffel said.
Clovis Nazarene School officials said 17 windows were smashed on a bus. Terri Curtis, director for the school, said church officials were notified of the damages around 12:30 Friday morning by police.
Six suspects, including five juveniles, were interviewed by police and released Friday. No charges were filed.
Schoeffel said more damage from the overnight vandalism will likely be reported in the coming days.
“A lot of people are on vacation this time of year,” Schoeffel said.
