Elida School News
Two new teachers have joined Elida Schools: Mrs. Rita Small and Mrs. Dianne Kemp.

Mrs. Rita Small is from Portales, New Mexico and is married to Mr. Wayne Small. They have three children, five grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Mrs. Small previously taught in Clovis for seven years, six of which she taught Special Education. Her hobbies are horses. She goes to rodeos and cutting horse events and adores quarter horses. In addition, she was a 4H leader for many years. Currently, Mrs. Small is the 2nd and 3rd grade teacher at Elida Elementary School. Mrs. Small states that she enjoys teaching here in Elida and is having a lot of fun with her students.

Mrs. Dianne Kemp and her husband Mark Kemp are from San Diego, California. After living in Portales, New Mexico for over ten years, it has now become their new home. They have four children and one grandchild. Mrs. Kemp was formerly employed in Clovis as an English and Communication/Career Exploration teacher and joins the Elida staff with eight years teaching experience. Mrs. Kemp is the Family and Consumer Science teacher at Elida High School and also teaches United States History and Psychology. Mrs. Kemp states that she loves teaching at Elida High School.

• Sept. 10: Floyd junior high and varsity vs. Magdalena at Floyd.

Volleyball
• Tuesday: loyd vs. Texico at Floyd, 6 p.m.
• Thursday: Floyd vs. Dora at Floyd, 6pm.
• Saturday: Clovis Christian Tournament in Clovis, time TBA.

Kindergarten news
Floyd Kindergarten’s “Student of the Week” is Jake Banister. Jake is the son of Misty Rains and Cody Banister. Jake’s favorite book is “The Monster Pet” By Jan Pienkowski. He enjoys playing T-ball, watching “Power Ranger” movies, playing marbles, and playing with his motorcycle race track. His favorite color is blue. He has a dog named Daisy Duke and his favorite foods are spinach and peaches.
