Jerry Lee Hunter
Mr. Jerry Lee Hunter, 59, of Las Vegas, N.M., died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005, at Las Vegas Medical Center in Las Vegas, N.M.

He was born Jan. 31, 1946, in Clovis to Clay Francis and Helen Calder Hunter.

Survivors include his sister, Edith Winegeart of Tucumcari; brother, Johnny Hunter of Nowata, Okla.; uncle, Jack Calder of Clovis; three aunts, Martha Jeske of Bakersfield, Calif., Glenda Calder and Sharon Calder, both of Clovis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation will take place.

Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.

Marilynn T. Cox
Marilynn T. Cox, 73, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005, in Fort Worth, Texas.

She was born June 3, 1932, to Dewey and Nora Evelyn Tidmore in Clovis.

She married Burl Cox in 1950 and became a “relocation expert” after moving 40 times the first 17 years of her marriage.

Family members said she devoted her life to her husband, children and friends and was described as being a person who was easy to know.

She was an active volunteer and served as a vice president of the Fort Worth Geological and Geophysical Auxiliary, and an officer of the Pink Ladies Auxiliary in Lafayette, La. She had a life-long interest in gardening and was an avid member of Budwatchers in Lafayette, La., until she moved to Fort Worth in 1985.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, William Burl Cox; and her sister, Francis Patterson.
Survivors include her daughters, Patti Williams (and her husband Jim) of Cresson, Texas and Kathy L. Cox (Lance Adrian) of Fort Worth, Texas; son, Mike Cox (Donna) of Lafayette, La.; grandchildren, Jennifer Riddle (Stephen), Scott Richard, Mickey Cox and Meg Cox; and great-grandsons, Jacob and Colin Riddle.

The family suggests donations be made in her memory to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, or the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements are by Thompson’s Harveson & Cole Funeral Home and Crematory of Fort Worth, Texas.

Maxine Martin Polk
Maxine Martin Polk, 86, of Lovington, died Friday, Sept. 30, 2005, in Lovington.

She was born June 16, 1919 in Garrison. She married Richard Beecher Martin Nov. 14, 1936 in Portales. He preceded her in death in 1967. She was also married to T.M. Polk, also preceding her in death.

She was a member of 3rd and Central Church of Christ, VFW Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her son, Richard Don Martin; brother, Joe Duane Swafford; and sister, June Ellen Swafford.

Survivors include daughter, Janis Noack (and husband Freddy) of Lovington; son, Buster Martin of Lovington; three sisters, Charlene Weigle of Amarillo, Texas, Joyce Fraze of Portales and Naida Taylor of Portales; grandchildren, Shasta Noack-Cammack of Lovington, Jason Noack of Lovington, Todd Martin of Lovington and Coy Don Martin of Clovis; grandson-in-law, Newton Cammack of Lovington; and great-grandchildren, Dominic Noack of Lovington, Cam Martin of Hobbs, Tannah Martin of Hobbs and Zoey Cammack of Dumas, Texas.

Jack Aduddell will officiate.

Arrangements are by Stevens Funeral Home of Lovington.

Ruth Mary Davis, 88, of Clovis, died Friday, Sept. 30, 2005, at Kaseman Presbyterian Hospice in Albuquerque.

Wendell Travis Tate, of Clovis, died Friday, Sept. 30, 2005 at his home in Clovis.
