Information on creating art with thread, preparing gourmet desserts, and using embroidery machines will be the featured topics on “Creative Living” on Tuesday at noon and on Saturday at 2 p.m. (All times are Mountain). “Creative Living” airs on public broadcasting station, KENW-TV, from Eastern New Mexico University in Portales.
Patsy Shields is an author and designer with Sulky of America. She will show how to use stabilizers, threads, yarns, and bits of fabric to create beautiful thread bowls and other pieces of art. Shields is from Sellersburg, Ind.
Janel Franklin is a cookbook author with Jan-Su Publications in Tahoka, Texas. She will demonstrate how to make delicious gourmet desserts with little effort.
Carol Bell is a sewing instructor with Ann Silva’s Bernina Sewing Center in Albuquerque. She will demonstrate a stand-alone embroidery machine and show how to use it for a variety of projects.
Information on making window treatments, southwest cooking and milk labeling will be the featured topics on “Creative Living” on Tuesday at 9:30 p.m. and on Thursday at noon.
Deborah Durham represents Marshalls in Los Angeles. She will demonstrate “No-sew window treatments,” which are an affordable and clever way to dress your windows without getting out the sewing machine.
Janel Franklin is a cookbook author from Tahoka, Texas. She will share a recipe for one-dish southwestern cooking. Her company is Jan-Su Publications.
Lisa Hardison is a marketing consultant to Dairy MAX in Canyon, Texas. She will tell about the labeling system for milk products which makes understanding the fat and nutrient content much easier for all consumers.

Siesta Roast ‘n Beans
3-4 lb. roast
2 cups pinto beans, uncooked
1 can green chiles, chopped
1 can tomatoes
1 onion, chopped
1 can tomato sauce
Place roast in a large pan. Place remaining ingredients on top of roast. Cover entire contents with water. Place in oven set to 250° F oven covered with lid. Cook at least 12 hours. (May cook longer.) Season with salt and pepper. Serve with salad, cornbread, and a dessert for a complete meal.
