Base planning commission to meet in Clovis
The New Mexico Military Base Planning Commission will host a meeting at 10 a.m. Friday in room 516 at Clovis Community College. The agenda includes an update presentation from the New Mexico Military Base Planning Commission discussing base support and economic impact issues.

ENMU Upward Bound selling snacks for fundraiser
Eastern New Mexico University’s Upward Bound program members are taking its students to Boston next summer and they are asking for help. Upward Bound members are selling fruit snacks from the Stretch Island Fruit Leather company.

The members are selling 36 individually wrapped pieces of fruit snacks, with a variety of flavors for $10, less than the cost of ordering through the Web site. People can also get 30 individually wrapped organic fruit snacks for $10. Upward Bound receives $4.50 for each order for the fund. No shipping cost.

Early voting for hospital district is under way
Portales residents can participate in early voting for Roosevelt County Hospital District 1 and District 2 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Roosevelt County Clerk’s office until Nov. 4.

Lydia Ornelas is running for the District 1 spot while Margaret Davis, Linda Baca and Terry Cone are running for District 2.

Election-day poll voting is 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 8 at Lindsey Elementary for District 1 and Steiner Elementary for District 2.
