EDMOND, Okla. — Meghan Craig scored 20 points and Central Oklahoma rallied from a 14-point, first-half deficit to beat Eastern New Mexico University 84-69 in Lone Star Conference women’s crossover action on Saturday, handing the Zias their sixth consecutive loss.
Lindsey Wilson added 18 points and nine rebounds and reserve Mallory Marcus scored 11 points for the Bronchos (3-10), who snapped a six-game losing streak. All of their wins this season have come in crossovers against LSC South teams.
Senior post Tiana Bryant scored 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the Zias (6-7), but she was held to two points on 1-of-9 field goal shooting in the second half. Guards Heather Brown and Ashley Sutton added 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Down by three points, the Zias went on a 14-0 run over a span of 3 1/2 minutes to lead 19-8. Their biggest lead was 29-15 on a basket by Bryant with 9:36 remaining until halftime.
Central Oklahoma scored 10 consecutive points to pull to 32-29 with less than five minutes to go. Bryant scored the Zias’ final five points of the half, but the Bronchos went on a 9-0 run over the final 3 1/2 minutes and led 38-37 at the break.
The Zias led briefly when Missy Kirkland scored the first basket of the second half with 18:38 left. They managed three more ties — the last at 50-50 on a 3-pointer by Erika Cook with 11:20 to go — before Central scored the next seven points to take the lead for good.
Markus’ 3-pointer with 7:39 remaining game Central its first double-digit lead (64-54), and the margin stayed in double figures after a 3-pointer by Wilson made it 67-56 with just over 5 1/2 minutes left.
Central held the Zias to 32 percent field goal shooting, including just 27 percent (10-of-37) after halftime.
