A local man died Saturday night in an automobile accident north of Clovis on Highway 209, according to the Curry County Sheriff’s office.
Richard Cerda of Clovis, the driver of the vehicle involved in the one-vehicle accident, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident at 10:30 p.m.
Samuel Galvan of Amarillo, the passenger, was transported to Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis. He was later transferred to another facility, according to a PRMC spokesperson. PRMC declined to say where he had been transferred.
According to the investigating sheriff’s deputy, Galvan was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident and Cerda was not.
