Pope new director at CSC

Amanda Pope is the new director of the Community Services Center in Portales. Anyone in Elida interested in CSC’s volunteer program can call her at 356-8576 or stop in and talk with her at 1100 Community Way in Portales.

Hull called to San Jon

Rev. Mary Sue Hull, most recently, pastor of the Methodist Church in Elida, attended the United Methodist Church conference in Glorieta last week. She announced she was retiring at the meeting, however the bishop asked her to be a full time pastor at the little church in San Jon.

Amy Jordan will be introduced as the new pastor in Elida on Sunday. She will be a part time pastor and will live in Portales.

Baptist church growing

The Robin Cox family joined the Baptist Church in Elida last week. Pastor Michael Rinne is starting a new visitation program on the first Sunday of the month as a outreach program.

The Baptist church sponsors a mens breakfast on the second Saturday each month. The church has Bible study at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays. The current study is Revelations. On fifth Sundays the church has the musical evening.

Tiger Little Leaguers win two

Last week the Elida Tigers Little League team beat the Astros 8-2. On Saturday they defeated the Yankees 21-10.
