Cousins Clay Kozba and Stetson Herrera accounted for all of Eastern New Mexico University’s scoring, leading the Greyhounds to a ninth-place finish with 155 points in the school’s College Daze Rodeo over the weekend at Lewis Cooper Arena.
Kozba, a junior from Brighton, Colo., was third in calf-roping, scoring 70 points, while Herrera, a senior from Marvel, Colo., added 85 points by splitting third place in bullriding.
Kozba finished the long-go with a time of 10.1 seconds in calf-roping, and followed with a short-go time of 13.5. His average of 23.6 trailed leading Nick Rawlings of Weatherford College by 2.6 seconds.
Herrera scored a 65 in the long-go and 82 in the short-go in bullriding, placing three points behind runnerup Stewart Kinley of South Plains.
ENMU’s women did not score in the event.
Tarleton State won the men’s team title with 405 points to 380 for co-runnersup Weatherford and West Texas College. Tarleton also won the women’s team title, finishing with 248 1/3 points to 215 for second-place Texas Tech.
ENMU’s next action will be Oct. 5-7 at Sul Ross State in Alpine, Texas.
