CANYON, Texas — St. Mary’s pulled out two close games late and posted a three-game sweep of Eastern New Mexico University on Saturday in a tournament hosted by West Texas A&M.
The Rattlers (17-11) held off the Zias late in each game to win 30-23, 33-31, 33-31 behind 25 kills from Samantha Weber.
The Zias (6-20), who lost to Grand Canyon on Friday night, held game point with a 29-24 lead in the second game before St. Mary’s rallied with nine of the final 11 points.
Emily Patlan added 10 kills and five aces for St. Mary’s. ENMU was led by junior outside hitters Emily Ferrell and Jessie Macknicki, each with eight kills.
The Zias had 37 kills and 20 attack errors as a team, compared with 17 kills and 30 errors in the loss to Grand Canyon.
