Free concert scheduled at ENMU Tuesday night
The Eastern New Mexico University Department of Music will present a concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday, in Buchanan Hall of the Music Building, featuring finalists in the Friends of Music Scholarship Competition.
The concert is free and open to the public. Winners of the scholarship will be announced following the concert.

Habitat for Humanity applications accepted
Habitat for Humanity of Roosevelt and Curry Counties is accepting applications for ownership of the next Portales house. Anyone interested in applying should attend a meeting from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Wesley Foundation, 1417 S. Ave. K, Portales.

Trip to China planned by Portales resident
Jane Liu of Portales is putting together a tour group to China to begin in late May. Liu, an Eastern New Mexico University employee and native of China, says she is putting the trip together to help bridge cultural gaps between the United States and China.
According to a handout sheet from Liu, the trip will leave from Lubbock May 29. The 15-day tour will cost $3,500. It will include stops in Beijing, Xi’an, Guangzhou, Chogquing, Wuhan and Shanghai. Deadline is April 2 to sign up.

La Escalera meeting set for Monday at co-op
La Escalera Art Guild will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the Roosevelt County Electric Coop hospitality room, 121 N. Main in Portales.
Oil painter Ann Templeton of Ruidoso will present the program. Guests are welcome.
