Water rate decision postponed again

A decision on the New Mexico American Water rate case pending before the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission is expected next week, according to a PRC spokesman.

The PRC postponed a decision again Thursday on the proposed water rate hike in Clovis and Edgewood, asking for additional time to compare other Edgewood-area utility rates, spokesman John Arnold said.

New Mexico American Water had asked in May 2006 for a 20-percent hike in rates for Clovis from its 2005 adjusted water service revenues because of increased expenses, according to officials and documents. In February a hearing examiner recommended a 12.6-percent hike.
