Committee members are preparing to host the 10th quinquennial Floyd School and Community Reunion that will be held on Saturday.

According to committee member Jackie Clark, the reunion started in 1962 and is held every five years. The reunion will be held on the grounds of the Floyd Municipal School grounds throughout the day, Clark said.

Kicking off the day will be registration at 10 a.m., followed by a catered barbecue lunch, business meeting and awards assembly. During the afternoon, participants will hear music from The Back Porch Pickers and partake in a watermelon feast. The evening will include a dance in the bus barn, Clark said.

“It’s going to be a big day,” Clark said.

Committee members are encouraging those attending the reunion to preregister in an effort to get a head count for the luncheon. The cost of the luncheon is $8 and registration will be $5. Also during the day, class pictures will be taken, Clark said.

“Any graduate of Floyd plus teachers and bus drivers and the community … Anyone with ties to the community are invited to the reunion,” Clark said.

As in past years, a golf cart will be provided to transport attendees from their vehicles to the school. The Floyd Booster Club will also have a concession stand available during the day, Clark said.

The 100th school/community reunion book will also be on sale during the reunion. At the past reunion, people brought in photos and stories that were compiled into the book, Clark said.
