School supply drive begins
The second annual Portales Kiwanis Club School Supply Drive is being organized to collect school supplies for Portales area grade schools and Portales Junior High. The club is also hoping to collect enough supplies to distribute to students at Dora, Elida and Floyd Schools.
During last year’s drive, the club raised $2,000 worth of supplies. This year the club hopes to raise $3,000. The Clovis/Portales Elks Lodge has donated $1,000 towards the drive. Any community members or business wishing to contribute to the drive are asked to drop off supplies at the Eastern New Mexico University bookstore. Contact Bobby Brunson at 562-2721 or any other Kiwanis member if you would like them to pick up the supplies.
Supplies needed are listed on the school supply lists at Wal-Mart or on the Portales Schools’ Web site at
