• Portales resident A.A. Richardson displayed peaches that he grown on his farm on the Roswell highway. The peaches measured 13 and one- half inches in circumference. Richardson stated that he didn’t do anything special to the peaches, but did keep them “watered and fertilized good.”
• Portales High School junior Louise Romero spent her summer working with Eastern New Mexico professor of Biology Antonio Gennaro. Romero was one of four students who participated in the Research Apprenticeship for Minority High School Students program.
• Under the Rainbow and The Great Muppet Caper were the featured showings at The Tower Twin.
