Eastern New Mexico University’s Lone Star Conference South Division football opener at Abilene Christian on Saturday is scheduled to be webcast on the CSTV/Division II website.
The Greyhounds are off to a 4-0 start while the Wildcats, preseason South Division favorites, are ranked No. 17 in NCAA Division II and stand 3-1.
This week, ENMU garnered 21 points in the Division II poll and was tied for 26st place — one spot outside the rankings with Central Washington.
ENMU features the top rushing attack in Division II and the nation’s rushing leader in senior quarterback Michael Benton (188 ypg, eight touchdowns). The Hounds are averaging 403 yards per game on the ground.
ENMU’s defense was allowed just 35 percent conversion rate by opponents on third down, while recording 13 sacks and forcing 11 turnovers.
Abilene Christian opened its season with a 45-27 win over NCAA championship subdivision (formerly Division I-AA) member Texas State, the defending Southland Conference champion. The Wildcats’ only loss was at Central Oklahoma, a game in which they committted five turnovers in a 27-18 setback.
Four of the other six South Division members are in the current Division II rankings — West Texas A&M (No. 11), Midwestern State (No. 13), Tar;etpm State (No. 15) and Abilene Christian.

A spectator bus is scheduled to leave Portales at 10 a.m. Saturday and will return following the game. The bus will depart from the campus union building parking lot.
Students with valid school IDs can ride the bus for free, while the cost is $20 per person for the general public. A sign-up list will be available at the campus union building, on a first-come, first-served basis.
