Worrying detrimental to body, soul

Have you ever had “wrong thought disease?” I have and it’s the pits!

Thought disease comes with all kinds of problems. The doctor’s report, overdue accounts, misunderstandings and the list goes on.

Thought disease thrives in a negative environment. Worrying thoughts ruin thought life and spills over into physical life.

Eventually body malfunctions begin to manifest. Headaches, insomnia, heart palpitations (to name a few) begin to appear. “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he … (Proverbs 23:7 KJV).

Thought disease robs happiness. The joy and gusto for life is wiped out and suddenly we find ourselves in a miserable state, a victim of thought disease.

Philippians 4:8 gives an antidote for wrong thoughts: “… Fix your thoughts on what is true and good and right. Think about things that are pure and lovely, and dwell on the fine, good things in others. Think about all you can praise God for and be glad about” (TLB).

Have you read the thoughts God thinks about you? He has plans of hope and a future for you. (Jeremiah 29:11) He joys over you with singing. (Zephaniah 3:17)

He meets your needs. (Philippians 4:19) He supports you with his right hand. (Psalm 18:35). He gives you peace. (John 14:27). With these many wonderful thoughts we can’t lose.

I believe thought disease can be eliminated with strong faith and a firm determination. Along life’s way I have observed happy people.

I’ve noticed they have many traits in common. I want to have those traits too and here is what I’ve discovered.

• “I lose my life to find it.”

• “I tell my body … I’m happy!”

• “This is the best day of my life.”

• “I will count my many blessings.”

• “Failure is not in my vocabulary.”

• “I tell myself, ‘Life Is Delicious!’”

• “I am happy because I think happy.”

• “I bless others and that brings happiness.”

• “Life was just waiting for me to be born.”

• “I appreciate life and I live with purpose.”

• “I will not criticize, murmur or complain.”

• “I will think thoughts of health, not sickness.”

• “I have strength, vitality endurance and stamina.”

• “I wouldn’t have missed this world for anything.”

• “I am thankful for this day and I will rejoice in it.”

• “I speak words of prosperity peace and politeness.”

• “I will be thankful for life and I will live it with gusto.”

• “Every day in every way I’m getting better and better.”

• “Each day I arise I say, “Look out world. Here I come!”

• “I will overcome negative statements with positive ones.”

• “I am excited about life and can’t wait until the next adventure.”

• “I will not think worrying thoughts, but those of joy and caring.”

Finally, I’ve saved the best one for last.

• “I realize love is the cure for ‘Thought Disease.’”

I challenge you to say these affirmations to yourself each day. Say them until you believe them. Then walk in the sunshine with a happy heart and most of all, “a happy mind.
