The Roosevelt General Hospital Auxiliary met in the Gift shop at Heartland Nursing Home Nov. 28.
President Sid Phillips presided. The minutes of the last meeting were accepted as amended by secretary Adele Breech. Treasurer Wanda Martinez gave her report, reporting all bills are paid with a few orders not received.
The Auxiliary is sponsored a table at the Holiday Happening.
Al Bettina is a new member and will be working at RGH. Phillips stated new members are always welcome. Talk to the person on duty at either of the gift shops in RGH or at Heartland if interested in joining.
The nominating committee was elected, has met and will give its report at the January meeting. The officers for 2008 and 2009 will be elected for a two-year term. Elected to the committee were Madeen Casey, Melba Britain and Mary Clotfelter.
Reports of activities of the Auxiliary were heard. Work schedules for the Bake Sale, Friday, Dec. 14 were outlined. Questions were answered concerning pricing of some baked items. Two new eight-foot tables have been purchased for Auxiliary use.
The next general meeting will be at 10 a.m. Jan. 16 in the RGH Conference Room.
United Daughters of the Confederacy
The Ellen W. Jones chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy held their December meeting with a Christmas luncheon at Roosevelt General Hospital.
Hostesses were Mary Louise Childress and Mildred Plexico, assisted by the hospitality committee: Jane Hilliard, Bess Jones, Robbie Wicker, Peg Kline, Karen Allen and Janelle Foster. Hilliard led the salute and pledges to the flags, Kline led the ritual and Wicker gave the invocation.
The secretary read the minutes. Foster gave the treasurer’s report.
It was reported 128 pounds of food was delivered to the Hartley House for Thanksgiving. A report was given on ill members, Juanita Johnson, Laura Nelson, Flora Witherspoon and Nena Stratton.
Jan Ross gave a program on “Christmas Songs as Propaganda.” Foster conducted a quiz on Christmas. The members brought Christmas goodies and shared them at the close of the program.
The next meeting will be Feb. 5.
