Hound soccer adds four to mix

Freedom New Mexico

Eastern New Mexico University men’s soccer coach Carlos Elizondo has added four signees for the upcoming season for coach Carlos Elizondo.

They are forward Edgar Lopez of El Paso (Americas High School), forward-midfielder Jerry Varpilah of Phoenix (Phoenix College) and midfielders Robert and Griffin Pedigo of Plano, Texas.

Lopez led his team to an area championship last fall, earning all-district honors after scoring 16 goals, including five in four playoff games. Varpilah, who will be a junior, led Phoenix College to 11 wins and a berth in the district tournament last season.

The Pedigo twins were the first freshmen to make the Plano High School varsity since 1967 and have started there since they were sophomores.

ENMU went 8-9-1 last fall, setting records for most wins in a season and most goals (45).
