It was a night to toot their horns on Monday as the Portales Municipal Schools Board of Education learned that Steiner Elementary School has been recognized as one of three model schools in the state for increasing reading performance.
Regarding the Steiner Elementary honor, principal Becky Flen, said, “Our teachers have worked harder than they have ever worked before.”
In his report, Valencia Elementary School Principal Todd Morris reported that the school of fourth- and fifth-graders showed significant growth in every sub-category in AYP and Lindsey Principal Rick Segovia reported that his school also made AYP in 2007.
