RCSO, Task Force make drug bust

PNT Staff Report

Officers from the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office and the Region V Drug Task Force executed a search warrant Wednesday that ended in the arrest of a Portales man for drug charges, according to a RCSO news release.

Officers served the warrant at 1413 S. Ave. I in Portales where they seized 15 ounces of marijuana and drug-related paraphernalia.

Adam Gutierrez, 44, of Portales, was arrested for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Gutierrez was booked into the Roosevelt County Detention Center with a bond of $51,500.

On Monday he was no longer incarcerated according to a RCDC spokesperson. A listing for Gutierrez at that address was not available.

In a news release, Sheriff Darren Hooker said that RCSO has initiated at least 20 drug cases since January, resulting in 11 arrests. He said that other cases are still active and arrests are pending.

“I am very pleased with the job the deputies and Task Force agents are doing and I am committed to remaining involved in the Task Force,” Hooker said. The work the sheriff’s office and Region V Drug Task Force is doing will benefit our communities and the citizens of Roosevelt County.”
