Parent meeting set

A meeting for parents of juniors will be held at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the PHS Library. We will be discussing the upcoming auction fundraiser scheduled for Nov. 9, as well as other possible fundraisers needed for the junior/senior prom. Your attendance and input are needed. Your student must have junior dues of $30 cash paid to Mrs. Darnell Lewis before they will be able to participate in any planning or events.

Dual credit program

Dual credit allows high school students to enroll in college-level courses offered by a public post-secondary institution that may be academic or career technical/vocational, but not remedial or developmental.

Students simultaneously earn credit toward high school graduation and a post-secondary degree or certificate. Recently passed state legislation waives all tuition costs for approved dual credit courses are waived. A total of 94 PHS students have registered for 150 courses at ENMU and CCC.

This is a significant increase from last year. Many dual credit classes are offered on the PHS campus through Eastern New Mexico University. In addition, many students attend Clovis Community College for career technical classes. More information is available by calling PHS counselors Pam Ray, Thomas Tafoya or Carolyn Van Wettering at 356-7015.

College entrance exams

Seniors interested in attending a four-year university after graduation must take a college entrance exam. The next ACT will be given Dec. 13. Deadline to register is Nov. 7. The next SAT will be given Nov. 1. Late deadline to register is Friday; an additional charge applies. Seniors should also be deciding which college(s) they intend on applying to as well as obtaining scholarship information.

Jostens on campus

Jostens will be in the PHS cafeteria from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday to collect money for class rings, caps and gowns, and graduation announcements. Juniors and graduating seniors can order and pay for those items at this time.
