Seniors will meet Thursday at the Floyd Senior Citizens Center for games and fellowship. Potluck is at 6 p.m. and games begin at 7 p.m.

New baby

Cayden Lattry was born to Matt and Darcee Benoit on Oct. 27. He weighed 6 pounds, 12 ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long. Grandparents are Darwin and Sherri Chenault and Paul and Lucia Benoit. Cayden has one brother, Cavender.

Recycling program

Floyd Municipal Schools have recently begun a school-wide recycling program. Classrooms and offices on campus are recycling plastics, cardboard, aluminum cans, and all types of paper. New recycle bins have been purchased and fashioned with a hole in the top just for aluminum cans and plastic bottles. The art class has made posters to help remind students and staff to use their recycle bins. Goldie VanLeer contributed this information.

School athletic news

Football — The Floyd Broncos football team will play in the eight-man state semifinals against Melrose on Friday. Time TBA.

Volleyball — The Floyd Lady Broncos will play at the state volleyball tournament at the Johnson Center in Albuquerque this week. Pool play began Tuesday and the tournament will begin today.

Yearbooks available

The school has some of last year’s yearbooks for sale. Yearbooks are $30 each and are available on a first come, first served basis. Contact Kyla Gray or Shelley McConnel at the school, 478-2211, to purchase a copy.
