Club Notes Nov. 23

RGH Auxiliary

The Roosevelt General Hospital Auxiliary met Nov. 19. Members were given flu shots before the meeting.

The minutes were approved as read. Treasurer Wanda Martinez reported a healthy balance in the gift shop with all bills paid.

Gay Weese is starting a program of giving newly-admitted patients a cup with a balloon. The auxiliary will deliver the gifts.

The annual bake sale format will be changed this year. Special orders for Dec. 18-19 have been placed for chocolate chip cookies, a carrot cake and fudge. Customers who would like baked goods can call the gift shop at Heartland Continuing Care Center, 359-4719, to place an order.

Linda Uttaro was authorized to buy special pens to check for fake $50 and $100 bills.

Mark Dillard, who calls bingo at Heartland, needs red and blue poker chips for the residents.

Gayle Richerson, head of nursing at RGH, demonstrated the use of transfer boards the auxiliary purchased. The nurses appreciate the boards, which are more comfortable for the patients and ease the nurses’ backs.

Beatrice Moore was welcomed as a new member. Both gift shops will be closed Thanksgiving day and the following Friday, and Christmas day and the following Friday.
