Penny Wars end
Student council sponsor Sara Bulls and Principal Steve Harris took more than 360 pounds of pennies, coins, and paper money to the bank last Friday. Tuesday the bank returned the final count of $1,213.62.
The seventh grade collected a total of $665.96 with $260.41 in pennies. The official penny wars rules were that paper and silver money deduct the number of pennies. That left the seventh grade with a negative $145.14.
The eighth grade collected a total of $547.66 with $302.79 in pennies. The rules of subtracting for silver and paper money leaves them with a positive $57.92, thus declaring the eighth grade the winners.
The real winner, of course, is the Dream Center since they have $1213.62 to provide Thanksgiving dinners for needy families.
