One of two Roosevelt County Commissioners being sworn into office Monday has already set a hefty agenda.
Republican David Sanders says his top priorities are fixing overcrowding at the county jail, attracting new business and getting the county to go green.
“One of our major concerns is the jail and I don’t think (anyone)…knows how to fix that,” Sanders said Saturday. “Right now, I don’t know. It’s definitely a concern. We keep filling our own jail.”
Sanders was re-elected the District 2 representative. Also taking the oath Monday is Dist. 1 Democrat Jake Lopez, who ran for the seat unopposed.
