The Portales City Council met Tuesday night at city hall.
Business conducted included:
• Councilors considered not renewing the city’s membership in the Eastern Plains Council of Governments, citing accusations of embezzlement against a former employee of the organization. They postponed the decision to the next meeting.
• Councilor Jake J. Lopez announced his resignation. He said he wanted to focus on his work as Roosevelt County commissioner.
• The council approved the final plat for the Alva Carter Subdivision, adopted an identity theft program and conducted other business.
