A sampling of recent calls received by Portales Police dispatchers, compiled from reports:

Jan. 3:

• About 3:45 p.m., a small child kept calling 911 to say hi and wouldn’t let the dispatcher speak to a parent. An officer spoke to the mother.

Jan. 4

• At 12:56 a.m., a caller reported a large, loud party in the back yard of a house near Hickory Street and Avenue K. Several people who were possibly underage were drinking, according to the caller.

• At 2:19 p.m., a woman reported that she caught a male in black-and-yellow jacket stealing from her maroon Dodge Durango. The subject ran away into a house down the street.

Jan. 5

• At 7:31 a.m., police received a call of a one-vehicle rollover on N.M. 206, south of N.M. 202. The blue Ford Mustang was back on its wheels.

• At 9:20 a.m., a woman reported someone stole her dog and two bikes from her yard on North Indio Avenue.

• At 6:31 p.m., a caller reported someone was egging vehicles along the Floyd highway.

Jan. 6

• At 8:42 a.m., a caller reported a laptop computer missing from the Portales High School agriculture shop.

• At 12:21 p.m., a caller reported someone left a flatbed trailer in his driveway on East Rose.

• At 2:46 p.m., a caller reported a possible deer carcass in a dumpster near East First Street.

• At 4:47 p.m., a caller reported a semitrailer hit guardrails on South Avenue C.

Jan. 7

• At 12:45 p.m., a caller reported that a male student hit a female in the stomach at Portales High School.
