Man receives prison sentence for drug charges

A Roosevelt County man accused of running a methamphetamine lab is headed for prison.

Cody Banister was sentenced Wednesday to 15 years in a state facility.

Banister, 28, accepted a plea deal shortly before the scheduled beginning of a jury trial before Judge Teddy Hartley, according to the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office.

Banister pled no contest to two counts of trafficking by manufacturing methamphetamine, a second-degree felony, and a count of conspiracy to commit trafficking by manufacturing, a third-degree felony.
