City council to vote on animal ordinance changes

Proposed changes in the animal ordinance top the agenda Tuesday for the Portales City Council.

The ordinance is was revised by Portales Police Chief Jeff Gill. The council is seeking public comment on the changes.

The council will also consider an amendment for a professional services contract grant match with the New Mexico economic Development Department for advertising.

“Their budgets were cut, so they reduced our grant by ten percent,” said spokesperson Nicole Wilkening said. “We have to finalize the amendment.”

The city will be using the money advertisement in FlyWell Magazine, brochures to the chamber of commerce and the airport.
