Commissioners to discuss inmate health care

Freedom New Mexico

Roosevelt County Commissioners plan to consider awarding a $232,000 inmate health care contract at their meeting, 9 a.m. Tuesday.

County Manager Charlene Hardin said the annual contract would secure medical, pharmacuetical and mental health services.

The county received one response to its request for services, from Correctional Healthcare Management Inc. of Greenwood Village, Colo., she said. The company hasn’t worked with Roosevelt County before, but does serve other correctional facilities in New Mexico.

“I’m going to recommend that they award because it’s really not something that’s optional,” Hardin said, adding that the county must provide the health care.

The agenda also includes:

• Information about an employee wellness check program.

• Department director reports.

• A Roosevelt County Commmunity Development Corporation report.
