Things are about to get down and dirty with some fun in the mud at Eastern New Mexico University’s mud volleyball tournament on May 2.
The annual event sponsored by Associated Students and the ENMU Foundation is open to the public. All proceeds go toward ENMU scholarships.
“We usually have some where between 8 to 12 teams,” said Trieva Rue, a senior and president of the student Senate. “We opened this year’s tournament to the community. The students and the community really look forward to this every year.”
Last year, 11 teams participated in the tournament.
The tournament costs $80 or $10 per person for an 8-member team. The tournament is co-ed and players must be 18-years or older, and sign a waiver. The deadline to register teams is 5 p.m. May 1.
Geralyn Million, development associate for ENMU Foundation, said the tournament has been going on for six years.
“Any scholarship is going to help in the funding for a student,” Million said. “Whether the money goes toward tuition, books, or residency.”
