Eastern New Mexico University has narrowed its athletic director search to four finalists, according to a university press release.
Mike Maguire, who served as ENMU’s athletic director for seven years, will be reassigned to a teaching and fundraising position after seven years at the AD post.
University president Steven Gamble said the salary range for the position is in the low $80,000 range.
The candidates will be introduced at four separate open meetings, each 5-7 p.m., at the Zuni room of the Campus Union Building.
About 70 candidates applied for the position.
The candidates are:
• Kenneth Oliver, the athletic director and vice president of campus life at Central Methodist University in Fayette, Mo. Oliver, who is also the dean of students, has been a head or assistant coach for the university’s football, golf, track and softball teams.
His meeting is slated for Monday.
• Richard Kaiser is in his 10th year as athletic director at Defiance College in Ohio. He has also been athletic director and Olivet College (Mich.) and Western Oregon and has coached football and tennis.
His meeting is scheduled for Thursday.
• Jeff Geiser, a sales representative with Gilman Gear sporting goods for three years, spent 10 years as athletic director at Adams State College in Alamosa, Colo. A former football coach for Adams State, Geiser was also the school’s chairman for the exercise physiology and leisure science department.
His meeting is scheduled for May 4.
• Wayne Baker has been the executive director of the National Junior College Athletic Association since 2004. He serves as an ex-officio member in all NJCAA regular and special committees and has been the association’s liaison with organizations bidding on NJCAA championship sites.
His meeting is scheduled for May 7.
