Norbert Zimmer, head of the New Mexico State Highway Department, announced that the department would begin a 10-day traffic study in Portales. The study would be conducted through interviews of travelers on in-bound and out-bound highways of the city. The interviews would be about the origin and destination of the drivers’ trips and their general purpose. The information would then be analyzed, calculated and given to local authorities to use.
