Tickets for Founders’ Day Picnic available

Tickets for the Eastern New Mexico University 75th Anniversary Founders’ Day Picnic on June 28 in front of the Administration Building are available for $6 each until June 24.

The cost includes two pieces of fried chicken, white bread, a pickle, corn on the cob, mustard potato salad, a boiled egg, dessert and drinks. The fried chicken and bread symbolize the Depression-era New Deal theme of “a chicken in every pot” prosperity.

Tickets can be purchased at the Chambers of Commerce in Clovis and Portales, and at the Information Center in the ENMU Administration Building.

ENMU seeks classic cars

The ENMU 75th Founders’ Day Picnic is looking for classic cars to display during the event on June 28. Those interested in showing their vehicles or who know someone who would be interested can fill out a form to reserve a spot next to the festivities.

• ENMU graduate Shannon Osborne used a creative video campaign to successfully seek to be named “Best El Pasosan” in the El Paso Magazine’s 2009 Best of El Paso contest.

A video of Osborne asking to be named Best El Pasoan and one of her asking for Minerpalooza, a University of Texas-El Paso event, to be named Best Annual Festival were distributed throughout the city, according the the El Paso Magazine Web site. She and Minerpalooza won their respective titles.

• Professor of Special Education Michael F. Shaughnessy recently interviewed Michelle Lamont of Harvard University about her latest book.
