Former District Attorney Randall Harris was arrested Wednesday night for domestic assault after his wife told police he threatened her and pushed her into a door.

Harris, 48, was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond, court records show.

According to an arrest warrant filed in Curry County Magistrate Court, Harris assaulted his wife during a dispute over personal property at the couple’s home.

Traci Harris told a Curry County sheriff’s deputy she and her husband are separated and Sunday he came to their home on State Road 77, north of Clovis, to pick up some of his belongings but tried to take things they had not agreed on, the warrant said.

When she confronted him, records show she said he told her he was going to “knock her out of his way,” then as he walked by her, she said he pushed her into a door.

Harris is charged with assault on a household member and battery against a household member, both misdemeanors.

A message was left Thursday afternoon at Harris’ Clovis law office seeking comment but the call was not immediately returned.

Harris served as district attorney 12 years. He resigned in 2002.

He now works as a criminal defense attorney in Clovis.
